A Voice in a Second
Protection Beginswith Awareness

Voice in a second
Because Our Children's Voices Cannot Be Neglected
“A Voice in a Second” began as a voluntary visual campaign and a creative initiative from the “What If” team. With their choice for Atfal Masr Foundation to adopt it, it transformed into a comprehensive national initiative aiming to create a safe environment for our children everywhere—in schools, clubs, nurseries, on the streets, and even within homes.
We believe that true protection begins with awareness. The initiative aims to raise awareness about the risks of child abuse in all its forms (physical, psychological, and neglect), teach them self-protection methods, and train parents and institutions on early detection and rapid intervention.
Our Philosophy
"A Moment of Awareness... Not Pity, Not Fear"
“A Voice in a Second” campaign stands out with its unique and innovative approach that respects the sensitivity of the issue.
We do not display shocking scenes or portray wounds
We focus on creating symbolic and impactful images that tell the deep effect of abuse without re-inflicting pain.
Psychologically safe design
All our materials are meticulously designed to be safe for children and parents, and do not cause alarm or fear.
Empowerment, not
intimidation
Our goal is to provide children, caregivers, and the community with simple yet effective tools for awareness and dialogue, creating “a moment of awareness that says something is wrong and can be fixed”.

Mechanisms and Tools
What Does the Initiative Offer?
“A Voice in a Second” provides a comprehensive set of awareness tools, resources, and practical mechanisms:
- Symbolic Visual Designs: Creative posters that tell impactful stories about children’s experiences, inspired by real life. Each design carries a complete story and comprehensive explanation.
- Content for Parents and Educators: Miniature educational guides and digital materials to help them initiate safe conversations with children about personal safety.
- Official Campaign Song: We are producing a short, impactful song with a professional voice artist and humane lyrics, to serve as a central awareness tool in videos, workshops, and field presentations. (Can embed the song video here once available).
- Ready-to-Use Materials: All designs and files are available in high quality for printing and publishing completely free of charge, as this is a shared message and not a commercial endeavor.
Tangible Protection Mechanisms
“A Voice in a Second” provides a comprehensive set of tangible protection mechanisms such as:
A formal commitment signed by institutions concerned with children, including: providing a safe environment, training staff, and adopting clear protocols for dealing with any cases of harassment or violence.

A symbolic badge worn by children who have completed protection training. This badge reminds adults that this child knows their rights, gives them self-confidence, and enhances the protection of their peers.

Upon signing the Protection Charter, an institution receives a sticker to be prominently displayed at the entrance of the location, serving as a sign of commitment and reassurance for every child and their family.
